Amy and Dan have lived in the Lake District for 10 years. Amy spent most weekends and holidays tramping up mountains in the Lakes with her family growing up and Dan has done many a Three Peaks Challenge. The phrase ‘It’s just over the next hill’ has been proudly passed from Amy’s dad down to her, and she uses it as often as possible with their three children.
Amy’s been involved with animals since her first pony trek when she was three years old and Dan has become a willing partner in crime (mostly – Amy recently forgot to mention she’d bought four kune kune weanlings…). It’s been a slippery slope since then; ponies, horses, guinea pigs, dogs, pygmy goats, sheep, chickens, pigs and in the last few years, alpacas and llamas.
The original plan was to ‘have a look’ at a couple of llamas. A year later we’re up to 26 llamas and alpacas and we have no doubt we will continue gathering them as they are such special, unique animals.
The Woolly Farm combines Amy and Dan’s two loves: walking and animals, and they can’t quite believe their luck that they get to spend their days sharing their fantastic animals and this beautiful corner of the Lake District with visitors.
